STYE PROGNOSIS
Stye prognosis is the forecast of the likely course, meaning, a prediction of common occurrences or complications that arise when one develops a stye.
Stye prognosis improves with medication or a series of treatments, but styes often recur. Most styes heal on their own by rupturing within one or two weeks, and rarely cause complications or damage to the eye. However, if a stye does not heal after 14 days, seek a doctors opinion.
Stye prognosis worsens when one attempts to lance or pop the stye. It is common for someone to get a second or third stye when they try and squeeze or burst the stye forcefully. Trying to rupture a stye often causes damage to other glands that are already dysfunctional, and increases the chances of a recurring stye.

INFECTION
Using a lancet puncture a stye, or attempting to squeeze a stye until it pops can worsen the prognosis by allowing pathogens to enter a wound. Antibiotics should be used anytime an incision is made to prevent microorganisms or bacterium that can cause disease.
EYELID DEFORMITY
In many cases, a chalazion will form as a result of a chronic stye. A chalazion is the remains of a stye. It is when the inflammation and pain has run its course but the bump still remains.
Chalazions can last a month to a year, and usually require a surgical procedure to remove the bump. Frequent chalazion surgeries can cause eyelid deformity.
